Isabel Marant shorts, Topshop one-piece, Zara jacket, Birkenstock sandals
I decided to adopt the Birkenstock-Céline trend for 2 reasons. Number one, when is summer and is hot out there, our feet need rest from the infamous heel pain. Second, because as soon as I saw those ‘furry’ sandals on the runway, I noticed something perfect for editorial content(something I’m truly perceptive about while watching the shows).
After that(and after watching the overpriced Celine tag at their store in Paris), I was sure I needed something to ease my needs for flat and big chunky sandals. Fortunately, this is when Ruy mentioned to me that they looked pretty much the same as the Birkenstock sandals his father used to wear on Sunday mornings while going Grocery shopping. (funny thought to compare Celine luxury to grocery shopping on Sunday mornings but quite true).
I then decided to enter the Birkentock store in St. Germain and bought the ones I thought more appropriate for ‘comfortable-summer outfits’. After wearing them for about a month in my apartment and in and out for quick walks(and grocery shopping too) I understood what the fuss was about. They are (and I can guarantee that) absolutely comfortable and as SS13 trends dictate they look Céline-cool-like.
Either way this is just a personal opinion and preference. I noticed very opposite opinions, some of you really rejecting this trend and others loving it. What are your thoughts on this?
