The Dolce&Gabbana show had finished, 2.45pm at Metropol in Milano. My shocked mind stayed blank for at least 5 minutes. After the big pause, I realized, Domenico and Stefano hadn’t just done it well as every season. This time, they literally hit me with their best shot. I started walking out the show to Viale Piave in my little Fausto Puglisi dress, and cleared up my thinking.
There is something I have discovered throughout these past years – and you probably have too, if you’ve been following around- : I have a favoritism and predisposition to choose black, white and gold (or at least something with special shine) to wear over other clothing, it’s just a personal natural attraction.
Now go back to the show and see the black capes and coats with the big detailed gold ornaments and then the black sheer dresses with the luxurious baroque italian feeling. Little black shorts and skirts paired with the statement D&G lace tops and white angelical ruffled dresses. Chicmuse’s heaven?!
A perfect collection. I’ve seen the show 10 times by now, and every time I see it, I keep asking myself: “Domenico, Stefano, how, what, and where exactly is that inspiration coming from?” I’ve personally heard and read how this is an ode to Sicily and from a Baroque motif. I would just like to hear it personally for myself, their words and feelings while doing it. How do they manage to transmit and express so vividly all this inspiration into one collection? It is still for me, a dream collection that has to be kept at least in books (and if I were to receive an unexpected transfer from the UK national lottery as I do everyday in my spam section, in my closet!).
