Dresses create dreams, and elegance is not over. Or shouldn’t be. I have lived with the idea that fashion is like art and like music. When going through archives and discovering pieces like the ones Yves Saint Laurent did all over his collections, or what Alber Elbaz has done with dresses, I believe fashion is certainly not over, and that elegance has to be preserved in some way. And that we have to support it.
Inspiration comes from what makes you dream, and makes you appreciate small details like they were the most iconic, outstanding ideas. This is what I see on every new fashion show , or while revising past collections, even the ones in a museum.
As for dresses, that have empowered women over the last couple of thousands of years, I like the conception of Elbaz: “When I make a dress for a woman, I don’t want to just offer her a cut or a fabric. I want to bring her part of a dream, of a fantasy, that will make this garment unique in her eyes”
Dresses like this, of course, make me ecstatic with each detail.
